Tasmanian Armwrestling Titles

Friday evening the the 8th of Feb saw the very first Tasmanian Armwrestling Titles kick off in Hobart at the Republic Bar with a great turnout from the local talent, and a buzzing atmosphere all night long thanks to Ben Crowley's excellent MC skills and of course Bulk Nutrients for hosting the event. The competition on the night was a diverse mix of Pro Wrestlers, MMA fighters, monster powerlifters, cross fitters, and seasoned armwrestlers from the "north island".

The under 85kg left and right divisions were hotly contested between 3 dominant players, Jesse Johnson, Alfred Cauter and Kane Richardson. Jesse proved too strong in the right class winning undefeated after some tough matches, and in the left class Alfred was dominant with his hook and side pressure. In the 100kg class pro wrestler Mike Peterson looked a threat the moment he entered the room with his huge arms and reversed baseball cap, and comfortably took out the class over a resilient Andrew Lea in the finals. Andrew was too good in the left 100kg class and took it out undefeated.

The womens class started with only 1 competitor, but some convincing words from Ben Crowley and we had a full draw of 8 women ready to lock arms in what was one of the most entertaining draws of the night! Jess Lyndon looked good the whole night and walked through all her opponents without a loss to become the first Women's armwrestling champion in Tassie.

Jesse Johnson and big Adrian Tullo had the most intense matchup of the night in the 100kg+ finals with the Referee's working overtime to try and setup both competitors and Jesse ultimately showing that technique can overcome size taking out the match on fouls and holding off Adrian's brute power. After his loss in the right finals, Adrian then came back with a vengeance and demolished the over 100kg left hand class to take home the left hand title.
