Countdown to the World Armwrestling Championships

Article by Jason Bishara
2015 has already been a busy year for the AAF.

With the success of the Arnold Classic in Melbourne, a visit from the one and only Devon Larratt, and finally the development of the world's first official Armwrestling magazine 'PULL' by talented members, the AAF has worked extremely hard to plant its foot firmly in the door of world recognition.

Now, with the 37th WAF World Armwrestling Championship in Kuala Lumpur looming just over the horizon, it is time to bust that door wide open.

The world champs presents an incredible opportunity for our top contenders to test their might against the world’s best, including the likes of Khadzhimurat Zoloev and Ievgenii Prudnyk, as well as many other huge names in the sport of armwrestling.

However, more importantly, it is an opportunity for all our athletes to bond as a team. As we all know, things can get very heated during our state and national competitions, so it’s great to have the chance to leave our rivalries at home and work together as we take on the rest of the world.

The AAF will be sending all those that qualified during the 2014 nationals, and as a result, will be the largest Australia team ever to compete in an armwrestling world championship in the history of the sport.

We have athletes competing in left and right hand classes, as well as all weight classes across all categories including juniors, seniors, masters, grand masters, and senior grand masters.

With captain Jamie Carle and vice-captain Andrew Lea leading the troops into battle, the stage is set for what will ultimately be an incredible experience for all our athletes, and yet another opportunity for Australian armwrestling to grow and develop.

Of course, no one is expecting much from us, and thankfully, that is just the way we like it.

Watch out WAF.

We are coming, and we are hungry.

For more information on booking details please contact Jamie or Andrew.

Good luck everyone!
