New Zealand Armwrestling Electrifies

Up until recently New Zealand has been fairly quiet on the armwrestling scene with a couple of dedicated clubs and some passionate members training almost obsessively the last 2 years. The rivalry between Australia and New Zealand has always run high when it comes to sporting achievements so when the opportunity to compete at FitX 2013 in the invitational armwrestling cup presented itself the best NZ pullers new this was their ultimate chance to test themselves against the best Australia had to offer.

With 3 top pullers in each weight class representing NZ and some fierce competition on the day, big Maateiwarangi Heta-morris proved that he was a force to be reckoned with by taking out the super heavyweight class, Monty Corbett taking 2nd place in the heavyweight division, and Zurab Kavtaradze taking a very respectable 4th place in the middleweights. Since that time the boys have returned to NZ and whipped up a media frenzy over their successes with numerous Television, newspaper and radio spots over the last month, and this has all built up to the New Zealand National Championships tomorrow on May 4th in Auckland.

Australia looks forward to working closely with New Zealand Armwrestling in the future and giving them our full support in becoming an official Federation.
